discontentI've already started moving a few things in, namely clothes. That in and of itself is a huge relief - that I have some place to put my clothes. I don't feel quite as disorganized and scattered (and hence stressed) now that I know where I can go to find what I'll be wearing that day. All of the rest of my stuff is still in boxes by the front door, but most of that doesn't matter as much. So long as I have and can find clothes.
One of the boxes I did dig into earlier today was my photo box. I've got hundreds of photos still just sitting in the envelopes they came in, and now that I have a functional printer/scanner, I thought I should probably start getting them put onto the computer, then filed in an actual photo album. I didn't get nearly as far into this project as I wanted before something made me think of the community
As a result, I've got about thirty or forty snippets I'd like to maybe write at some point, plus I've started thinking about maybe making a 3D map of my universe to get a better idea of borders and where skirmishes and battles would've taken place. I have an idea about how I'd make it, but it's a little more involved than I have time for at the moment. It'll be really nifty, though. But not the only map I'd need, alas - I'll also need basic maps of all the key galaxies, globes of the various key planets, maps of key locations...you get the picture.
I also need to sit down and bang out a classification system of sorts for planets and stars and start figuring out what all fits where. It will probably end up being very similar to Star Trek's set of classifications, but what I first want to do is see if there's a similar set-up in RL that I can base it against.
And then I need to get onto paper at least a basic image of every species I plan to use, from Devonians to Jetak'ni to the Gel'ne'datte. At the very least I'd like to have a minimum of ten species for each of the main polities, though I'd love to have more. How many do I have thus far, come to think of it...?
-Devonian
-Heron
-Sheook
-Jetak'ni
-Kazukan
-Kauyetti
-Prudian
-Gel'ne'datte
-Tsu
-Timal/Timaui
-Brogay
-Zhazeens
-Fult-nyaik
-Doughti
...So I've got a little ways to go. I need to go dig up my notes for the defunct Denlings story - I've got tons of species listed there. I can work with that.
overwhelmedSomehow this segwayed into the observation that I want a baby. Of course, this requires a husband, which requires a boyfriend, which requires liking a guy well enough to want to date him. There are plenty of guys around here that I have crushes on, but while the notion of having a boyfriend is nice, it's just not really something I'm drawn to at the moment, if that makes any sense. I just really want a baby.
LVA's suggestion: "You should go back to the daycare. Sharlene would love you."
My reaction: "I don't want lots of babies, I just want a baby."
LVA agreed with me on the not really wanting a boyfriend per se, and we then gushed for a little bit on the fact that Murray celebrated her first Valentine's Day with her boyfriend
I forgot my dad's birthday!! I was thinkingit was either the 23rd (last Sunday) or the 30th (next Sunday). Last Sunday would've been bad enough, but when I called to double check, Mom said it was last Thursday, the 20th! Why is it that I can remember everyone's birthday but me dad's? Oh, I feel terrible. I need to get him something extra special now...
Today was a good day to be at the bank. Or be a cop. Our alarm went off twice, once when I was at lunch and again just before we were getting ready to leave. We weren't very concerned because it's the same alarm that's been going off for the last week or so. Still, the police had to come out both times to make sure everything was all right. We even got two cruisers the second time! They're probably sick of us by now.

On a completely different note, I actually witnessed an accident for only the second time in my life yesterday. It was a little anti-climatic - a faint squeal of tires, not unlike tires on really wet pavement, a muffled smash, and suddenly there were shattered lights, crumpled fenders, and the lead car veering momentarily into oncoming traffic while the rear car stopped where it was. Fortunately this was about 1845 on the Strip and the lane was a turn lane, so people were moving slowly anyway, but I suspect the first driver still experienced a moment or two of sheer terror when he saw those oncoming headlights before he got back onto the median.
Shortly thereafter, about a block away, I saw a woman wearing a sari walking on the sidewalk. I don't know why, but it struck me as both ironic and amusing, and my first thought was "Only in Vegas..."
I don't like key of C major. Too many sons are played in it, and I usually associate it with cheerful, happy, "simple" music. I myself prefer music that's either dramatic or sorrowful (which is probably why I favor the key of D so much). Movies don't make me cry, and books don't make me cry, so I like music (and music videos) that do....not quite sure how that follows, but hey!
i saw a guy on the corner who looked a lot like Biker, who's getting married this Friday. This normally wouldn't be all that noteworthy, were it not for the fact that he seemed to be attempting to persuade his little toddler to do something. She was utterly adorable - blonde, curly hair, pink frilly dress, all tucked into a pink frilly stroller. I thought of Biker and was much amused.
I might possibly may be filling in at the daycare on Friday. If Sharleine absolutely desperately needs someone. Possibly. Maybe. >.>
